Just like you need a driver’s license to show you’re a capable driver, builders need a license to be a building practitioner. Building new homes is only allowed to be done by licensed building practitioners (LBPs) who have been assessed to be competent to carry out work essential to a residential building’s structure or weathertightness. LBPs are assessed before getting licensed, and have to maintain their skills to keep their licence.

For every home we build at Grove Homes, we obtain a HomeFirst Guarantee from Builtin Insurance. Having a HomeFirst Guarantee in place protects your deposit and ensures that if your chosen builder can’t complete the job, Builtin will find someone to finish it, and cover the extra costs to do so (subject to the limits of the policy). The guarantee also covers the repair of defects for 10 years.

​WE STAND BY OUR FIXED PRICE CONTRACT

Most building contracts out there include, provisional sums and tags, on things such as foundations, fencing, driveways and footpaths, landscaping and flooring. These costs are estimated by the builder at the time of signing the contract. This means the true cost of these items are often subject to site measure or are ‘discovered’ during the construction process, and long after you’ve signed the build contract. If the cost of these items turn out to be higher than allowed for in your build contract, you are obligated to pay for these, additional to the contract cost.​​  

In some circumstances a provisional sum is required where it is difficult to definitively quantify some aspects of the work. However, we strive to establish all the details of your new-home build before presenting you the build contract, so we can minimise any additional costs further down the track.

​CONTRACT WORKS INSURANCE

At Grove Homes we obtain a Contract Works insurance policy for every home we build. All construction work contains an element of risk. This will vary from project to project but risks common to all construction works are things such as fire, theft, construction collapse, natural disaster, third party liability exposures etc. In the event of any of these things happening to your home during the build, Contract Works insurance will cover additional costs relating to repair or replacement of the damaged works. ​PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE

Public Liability Insurance provides legal liability protection from damage to third party property or bodily injury. So for example if roofing material from our site were to blow into someo ne elses property and cause damage – this insurance covers the related costs of the incident. Every new home we build at Grove Homes is covered by Public Liability insurance, so we’re protected, and by extension, so are you.
